Chinese online Q&A platform Zhihu has sacked 20 percent to 30 percent of its workforce, with cuts to departments in IT, commercialisation, education, and community operation, media reported Tuesday. The company responded that the situation is tied to “normal business and organisational optimisation and adjustment”. Shares of Zhihu dropped 10 percent in Hong Kong today following a 15 percent slump in New York on Tuesday.
Chinese authorities have pledged to increase credit issuance and enhance financial support for key businesses and fields as the economy’s downward pressure continues to increase and market entities are struggling.

Earnings reports express财报速递
Chinese internet and online game services provider NetEase reported Tuesday a net revenue totalled 23.6 billion yuan in the first three months, up 14.8 percent year-on-year. Net income attributable to shareholders was 4.39 billion yuan, compared to 4.44 billion yuan a year ago. Its first-quarter net revenue for online gaming services came in at 17.3 billion yuan, and Cloud Music earned a net income of 2.1 billion yuan.
