Three Chinese authorities including the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development Tuesday rolled out a phased supportive policy on deferring housing provident fund contributions, saying that enterprises affected by the epidemic can apply for postponing of payment and make the payment afterward. The regular withdrawal and loan application of the fund would not be affected.
The State Council on Thursday issued a guideline on further revitalising existing assets and expanding effective investment to promote the healthy development of real estate investment trusts (REITs) in the infrastructure sector. More qualified infrastructure REITs projects are encouraged to go public as project reviews will be further accelerated.

The China Academy of Information and Communications Technology released a report on Wednesday analysing the Chinese mobile phone market in April 2022. The report indicates that during April, the domestic market shipped 18.1 million smartphones, down 34 percent year-on-year. Specifically, 14.6 million were 5G smartphones, down 32 percent year-on-year, accounting for 81 percent overall.

Chinese shares rallied in late trading on Wednesday to rebound from their worst session in nearly three weeks thanks to Beijing’s economic support measures. The Shanghai Composite gained 1.19 percent and the Shenzhen Component edged up 0.7 percent. Energy and transport shares went up more than 2 percent each, while utilities stocks climbed 3.1 percent. The Hang Seng Index also closed 0.29 percent higher.
